Soccer Handbook

2017-18

Please review this information to become familiar with the United Academy program. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

A Brief History

United FC was established in 2012 by founder Jonas Hartman of Alpine, Utah to provide an environment for his daughter to play in that was previously lacking in our area. Jonas grew up in Aalborg Denmark and played as a youth through the Denmark academy system as well as later moving on to play professionally in Denmark and eventually playing professionally in the United States. Soon after coaching his daughter Jonas decided to help provide a better experience for other local players in North Utah County, creating a couple more teams. In 2016 Jonas partnered with Ben Blakley who coached for La Roca FC, Ben is a local highland resident and father of 5 soccer players of his own. Ben also had similar concerns and experiences with the local options for youth soccer players. Together Jonas and Ben have been, and are currently working to establish a great local Academy/Family type experience for players of all ages.

United Academy provides opportunities for players to grow and develop their skills to compete in highly competitive state leagues and additional tournaments within and outside the state of Utah. We are looking for committed team players/parents who are driven, respectful, and love the game. We want to compete on the highest level and at the same time keep the focus that all youth players 8-18 years of age are in the development stage of their soccer careers.

We also provide some more entry level teams for players who are wanting a little higher level experience than recreation teams but are newer to the sport or who want a competitive option with a little less commitment and more flexibility.

It Takes a Community

To have a successful program we rely on the help of everyone within the United Academy. We are grateful for all those who have helped and who are willing to sacrifice some of your time to help us provide a wonderful experience for your children.

If you have interest in helping here please contact us for any of the following as well as any other strengths you feel you could provide.

Volunteers

If you would be open to volunteering some of your time to help out please let us know.

Sponsors

If you or your business would like to help sponsor the United Academy please let us know. If you or your business has opportunities to donate, provide fundraising opportunities, sponsor players in need of financial help, or to sponsor team gear, web site, activities, tournaments etc. We are open to any opportunities you may have or know of.

Facilities

If you own, have access to, or are a part of an organization that has fields we can use, land for fields, indoor facilities etc... we are VERRY open to those opportunities. As we grow we would love to have a central location available for all our teams to train on, participate in open play, and play games on. We feel this would create an even stronger family feel to our program. Please contact us if you would like to be a part of this.

Tryouts, Player Placement and Registration

United Academy tryouts are held once a year in late spring for all players. Teams are formed from these tryouts. Placement on a team is determined by skill level. Notification of players who make the team will be given by the coach.

Once placed on a team, a player is expected to make a year commitment to United Academy (June 2016 through May 2017).Each player must register through our web site. All teams will hold team meetings prior to beginning training to discuss team plans and tournaments.

Training begins in June and continues through the end of May.

AAA teams are expected to train and play approx. 10+ months of the year with 2 or more team trainings per week, play in fall and spring UYSA AAA state regular season games, and participate in 2 or more tournaments per year. AAA teams will also participate in a minimum of 1 winter indoor or futsal league. Periodic breaks in training will vary based on the discretion of your coach as he/she factors the best interests of the team as a whole.

Some coaches may increase team trainings, tournaments, and other activities depending on the teams age, development level, and desires. It is important to confirm expectations with your coach if you are needing/expecting a specific level of commitment for your player.

All players who play for United Academy pay a yearly registration fee and club fee. Additional fees include tournament fees, referee fees, indoor/futsal league fees and indoor facility fees. Coaching fees are IN ADDITION to NUCS registration fees and club fees and determined by the level of team on which the player is placed.

Training fees/Coaches Fees

Age Group Yearly Coaching Fees
U8 and under TBD
U9-U10 $450
U11-U12 $550
U13-U18 $650

All parents must sign the United Academy Financial Agreement for fees. Parents have two options for paying training fees; either paid in full or in payments by direct debit through Bank. Training fee payments generally begin in June and continue through November.

Additional fees include:

  • United Academy Uniform - Entry level kit $175.00. Optional warm up and backpack kit $130.00 (Your coach will decide if your team will select the added warm up kit)
  • NUCS/UYSA fees AAA $280.00- Includes all UYSA State fees, field fees, ref fees, registration fees, etc.

Indoor facility fees, indoor fees, tournament fees and any other team activity fees are determined by the total cost and divided by the number of players on the team. All players are expected to share in these expenses whether they attend the event or not. A player deciding not to join the team for a team activity should not cause added financial burden to others within the team.

If a player is delinquent on fees, the player may be removed from the roster and the player will not be permitted to train and/or play until fees are paid.

United Academy, Academy equipment and administration fees ($260.00) are required by all United Academy players. Academy fee covers the cost of running the United Academy and include maintaining our office and supplies, website, administrative fees, advertising, Director, field fees, equipment, goalkeeper training, club skills training/combined group trainings, coaching education, etc.

Refund Policy

United Academy forms teams immediately after tryouts each year. Fees are based on the commitments made by players/parents at that time. Registration is due at the time of commitment to a team immediately after tryouts regardless of when the playing season begins (as in the case of high school age girls who play spring season only). Players are expected to make a full 1 year commitment to United Academy once a player is registered (June - May) and that includes paying training fees for the entire year. United Academy makes commitments to teams and coaches at that time, so a player's financial commitment is also expected at the time of registration. A player will not be placed on a team until all necessary paperwork and/or fees are paid.

No refunds will be issued on United Academy's fees once a player has committed to and registered for a team. This NO REFUND policy allows United Academy to honor the financial commitments made to our coaching staff as well as guarantee the viability of the team.

UYSA has a very strict transfer policy which states players outside of the end of the year (June) may only transfer into and out of a club between November 15th and January 15th. Based on this policy, United Academy will only transfer players into and out of a team during this time. If a player decides to leave a United Academy team, NO REFUNDS will be issued. Full year training fees must be paid before a player will be released from United Academy. Players may transfer between United Academy teams at any time of the year if we see it as a productive option for the given player's development.
